Nature Maid: Linda

Nature Maid: Linda with Devil's Claws

Porcelain fgure stained and painted holding Devil's Claws on a welded steel skirt covered in tulle.

Inspiration and Celebration

Created as an "assignment" from the Sandzen Gallery, this self portrait holds mature Devil’s Claws.  This plant forms a dry wooden shaker full of seeds with long arms ending in a hook that is intended to attach to a prairie animal, such as a buffalo.  When moving the animal will then cross the prairie dispersing the seeds.  As a teacher, I see my role as guardian of  “creative cultural” seeds and a helper in dispersing creativity across our country in the form of art, artists and art teachers.
