Bell(e): Marie

Marie Leczinska, Queen Consort of France and Navarre, Maria Karolina Zofia Felicja Leszczynska

Marie lived from June 23, 1703 to June 24, 1768 (Died age 65)

Her father was King of Poland, Stanislaw Leszczynska (later desposed)

She married Louis XV of France in 1725 and is the longest ruling queen consort of France (43 years).  She gave birth to 11 children in 10 years. Only one son survived childhood.  In 1738, she refused Louis entry into her rooms, ending their private relationship. Marie was allowed little political influence, but loved the arts and literature.  She was beloved as a people’s queen.  She had to look the other way and accept the king’s many lovers.
