Inspiration and Celebration

Young Marie Antoinette, Engagement Age

Marie Antoinette lived from November 2, 1755 to October 16, 1793 (executed age 37).  Marie Antoinette was Queen Consort of France from 1774 – 1792 (18 years).

Marie Antoinette was the daughter of Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria Therese of Austria.  As a girl, Marie loved dolls, and had a happy, if somewhat neglected childhood but was a poor student. She survived smallpox as a child and her crooked teeth were corrected with dental surgery.  She was engaged in 1765 then married to Louis XVI of France in 1770.  Her engagement meant leaving all things not French behind.

Innocence and ambition fuse in early adolescence, much as a butterfly takes flight from a cocoon.  Lexi holds a yucca pod full of seeds symbolizing potential.
